When I first heard about an abandoned yacht downtown Chattanooga I was pretty excited. After all the Lifetime movies I’ve watched I figured there must be a really exciting story behind the 1984 Chesapeake 162 just chillin below Battery Place.

It turns out it really isn’t that exciting and the yacht is for sale according to a few different listings I found. For just $295,000 you could be the proud owner of the dilapidated yacht that has been parked since sometime around 2008. The registration is expired and will need to be brought up to USCG requirements if you want to get it back to commercial condition since in its current state it falls under recreational.

After doing some research I wasn’t able to find much more than the boat is owned by Henry Luken, who is no longer the current owner of the home it is docked at. Luken does own a yacht building business in Vancouver, Washington however, so it would seem if he wanted the boat fixed up it would be fairly easy to do so.

There are some rumors that I was not able to confirm that the boat was going to be a Casino boat. It seems since the city has a deal with the Southern Belle allowing them to be the only boat to sell alcohol on the river, that plan fell through.

I wish I had more to tell you about this abandoned ship, however after several days of research and a few unanswered emails and phone calls this was the best I could do.
