Tailgate Brewery opened their Chattanooga location in June and had their friends and family night this week. They are located in the Southside historic district in the Stong building across Station street from the Chattanooga Choo Choo.


The Chattanooga location is the first of Tailgates taprooms outside of the Nashville area. They opened their first location in Nashville in 2014 and recently made the news for paying 100% of health care benefits for employees, something you don’t see often in the food service industry.


There has been a lot of talk from people local to the area about Tailgate opening in the old Terminal Brewhouse, and being yet another Nashville business opening in Chattanooga. The mural painted on the building has also been a point of discussion for many in the historic preservation community in Chattanooga.


The beers they have on draft change frequently. Between their opening and friends and family night I tried the Scenic City Belgian Blonde, the Peanut Butter Milk Stout, the Lavender Saison, and the Orange Wheat. All of which were very drinkable and I don’t even like peanut butter.


For food they offer a variety of pizzas, loaded fries, and other bar style appetizers. They even have a s’mores pizza and a cinnamon roll pizza for desert.


The inside of the building is a lot brighter than it was when it was home to many of the businesses of the past, with artwork and vivid murals painted on the walls inside in the same colors as they used on the outside of the building.
