You know the people that make a bunch of New Years resolutions and you just know there is no way they are going to follow through with them long term? I’m not one of those people. Not even a little bit, not even kinda.
New Years Resolutions Are Stupid.
It really is that simple. New Years resolutions are stupid. If I want to change something about my life I’m going to do it. I’m not going to wait till a New Year to be healthier or more frugal or whatever I feel like I need to change. If I want to make a change I’m going to make it. Right now. Why wait?
Companies Pushing Resolutions Suck.
Ok y’all, I’m about to get real passionate about this one. I absolutely hate when companies and articles tell you what kind of resolutions you need to make. First of all, the company just wants to sell me diet pills, make me use apps that track my budgeting, or sell me shoes. No company ever legitimately cares about me and my goals if it doesn’t do anything for them. Thats fine. I don’t give a shit about the company’s goals either. Playing on peoples weaknesses and insecurities to make a sale just isn’t cool.
The New Year Can Still Be A Fresh Start.
Just because I don’t make a list of resolutions doesn’t mean that I don’t use the beginning of the year or month to start new. Coie’s Questions is using the new year as the official point to become more than just a podcast. I have already gotten some videos up on YouTube but this year is the official start of the vlog and other amazing videos being brought to you. I also started a new book club vip membership. Those used the beginning of the year as an official date to start, but were all in the process of being implemented anyway.
Growth Is Important All Year Long
If I limit myself to just trying to change things at the beginning of the year and possibly failing by February I will actually stunt my growth all year long. I’m not against changing and growing and bettering myself. I am just against doing it specifically because it is a new year. One of the biggest challenges I’ve been working on the past couple months is overcoming imposter syndrome, read about that here. I could have waited and made it a resolution for this year, but I’m glad I started working on it when I realized it was an issue instead.
Do you make New Years Resolutions? What lead you to that decision about them? Let me know in the comments below!
