You’ve heard of the 5 love languages, right? If you aren’t sure what yours is take the quiz and find out. You can have more than one, because I sure do. Stay tuned to the end to find out what mine are, but I bet you can guess which two they are.
Let me break them down Courtney style for you. You want to share a pizza with your favorite person. This is how you do that according to each love language.
Acts of Service: I made us a pizza.
Receiving Gifts: I bought us a pizza.
Quality Time: Do you want to eat pizza with me?
Words Of Affirmation: I love the pizza you picked out last time, let’s have that again tonight.
Physical Touch: *big hugs* Thank you for sharing a pizza with me, *hugs*.
Simple enough, right? Don’t put too much thought into it, it’s not about what you do but more about how you do it. Now that we got that out of the way let’s talk about some bomb date night ideas based on each of the love language types.
Love Language Date Night Ideas
Acts Of Service
Cooking Class
Most cities have a place where you can take fun “date night” cooking classes. Chattanooga serves as a home base for me so if I was looking for a fun cooking class I would check out the Sweet & Savory Classroom and find a yummy sounding class.
Try a new coffee place and make a bucket list together
Get a nice hot seasonal drink, get cozy in a cute little coffee shop and work on a mini bucket list of things you want to do together.
Escape Room
I’ve never done an escape room, but I want to. I personally don’t think it would be a great date night for me because I will probably get super frustrated and I really don’t enjoy date nights that end in a fight. But for people that handle stress with others a bit better than I do it would be a ton of fun.
Make a DIY project together
Pinspiration has a ton of craft projects and supplies to have a fun date night out with out spending $75,937 at Hobby Lobby first. There are 63 Pinspiration locations across the US so there is probably one close enough for date night.
Have a picnic and pick out each others food
Yeah, I know it’s not exactly picnic weather everywhere right now. But there are lots of fun ways to put a fall and winter spin on it. Make sure to pick out their favorite desert for an extra little fun surprise.
Receiving Gifts
Painting night
Have you ever seen those paint your own pottery or the wine and design style places? Those places look like so much fun and you get to keep a great memento of from your date that you painted.
Get tattoos
I’m not talking about matching tattoos. Don’t do that. Seriously don’t. But if you have been wanting tattoos or one of you have then pick them out and go get them. Do your research, don’t do this on a whim. But switch up your date night with a evening with your favorite artist.
Surprise them with tickets
Have they been talking about a concert or a show they want to see? Get the tickets and surprise them with a date night they’ve been wanting to go on.
Make a scrapbook
Get a Polaroid and notebook and plan a photo walk adventure putting the scrapbook together as you go. Take more pictures than you think you should, add notes and receipts and enjoy the memories for years to come.
Go on a Dinner cruise
Ok, so this might be a little harder to come by depending on where you live. But if you are with in driving distance of a river with a river boat add it to the list of dates you need to have. If you’re in the Chattanooga area be sure to check out the Southern Belle Riverboat!
Quality Time
Selfie Museum
Instagram playground, Selfie Spot, there are lots of names for them but basically it’s a building that has a bunch (usually 25 ish) of photo backgrounds and props making a fun way to take some cute or funny photos you can keep for years to come. There are 2 in the Chattanooga area and there will be a post and a YouTube video comparing them sometime next week hopefully.
Go to a Brewery
Check out a new brewery you’ve been wanting to go to and spend your time trying out new flavors and talking and enjoying each others company. If you want to really get crazy, pick out a flight with unique flavors for each other and try to guess what each beer is.
Geocaching
Ok, so it may not be the right time of year for this right now either. But going geocaching can sometimes feel like you’re on a treasure hunt. Other times it can feel like you’re working really hard to find a bunch of junk in a Tupperware container in a bush. You win some, you lose some.
Learn a new skill
Take a fun class. Most cities have somewhere where you can take classes to learn a new hobby or skill. I’ve looked at classes at the Chattery before, but as of writing this have yet to take any.
Words Of Affirmation
Scavenger hunt
Create a scavenger hunt with sweet notes leading your way through the city. Pick popular places in your city, unique locations in fun bars, instagramable spots to take photos, or something a bit more personal to y’all. I’ve never been part of a scavenger hunt that wasn’t fun.
Game night
There are bars and breweries that host game nights. Yes, board game nights. Whats better than playing a fun game with a new beer and your favorite person? Just don’t be a sore loser. If you’re not fun to play games with (first of all figure that shit out) maybe pass on this idea.
Indoor rock climbing
I’ve never been indoor rock climbing but its on my list! There are 2187 climbing gyms on this list. Find one close by and go have fun this week for date night.
Karaoke
Can’t sing? Me either. Go karaoke and pick songs that remind you of your date. Unless they are songs by Puddle of Mudd then maybe you shouldn’t really be going on that date to begin with.
Physical Touch
Arcade
When was the last time you kicked ass at pinball, or air hockey? Find an arcade, and get competitive this week. Fun fact: I’m basically the Skee-ball champion of the world and I will gladly defend that title any date night.
Roller skating
Have you seen all the cute skates for sale lately? Thats reason enough for me to want to go. If you’re like me and can’t skate, hopefully your date can and will help hold you up.
Drive In Movie
There is nothing better than grabbing all the pillows and blankets and turning the back of your car or truck into the best cuddle spot, stopping at the store and getting all the snacks, and watching a movie on a giant screen. Perfect date night idea if you ask me.
Trampoline Park
Try out your skills at trampoline dodge ball, or see who can do the best backflip. Don’t worry about how sore you will be tomorrow, because you will be, it will be worth all the fun you’re going to have.
Play tourist in your hometown
Walk around town hand in hand and look at it like you’ve never been there before. Get a new view on your city and your date.
