Ok, before you yell at me, I am not talking shit about Hallmark movies. I am a giant Hallmark Christmas movie nerd. Love me some Ryan Paevey and the whole grumpy hometown hottie in flannel story line. However, some people don’t feel the same way (I know, I think it’s weird too). So if you happen to be one of those people here are some Christmas Movies on Netflix that don’t suck.

Royal Christmas Movies

The Knight Before Christmas

Hot time traveling knight? Check. Dumb girl letting a stranger who might be crazy stay in her house? Check. Fairytale ending? Also check. Yes, this movie is corny. Please find me a Christmas movie that isn’t. It doesn’t suck and it will leave you laughing at the dumb jokes with a smile on your face at the end.

A Christmas Prince

There is just something about a prince of a fake country and an American pretending to be someone they aren’t that makes a movie a good time. While Princess Emily and her smart mouth is actually my favorite, the love story between the journalist and the fuck boi prince is pretty good too.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

You can’t have an American about to marry a prince of a made up country with out having to go through the trials of deciding if she can in fact do it. My bff Emily is back in this movie as Ambers partner in crime.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby

A royal baby just cannot be born in a Christmas movie until something crazy happens. But you already knew that right? If a peace treaty isn’t signed by midnight on Christmas Eve (because of course thats the cut off) imaginary kingdoms are going to be at war. Obviously it isn’t as easy as just signing it, especially when it goes missing.

Feel Good Christmas Movies

Holly Star

Hidden Treasure. Broke girl with obscure job. Hometowns and childhood sweethearts. All the makings of a Christmas romcom. Except for the having to die to figure out where the treasure is part. The characters have actual depth to them and more than once I was actually shocked for a moment at what was happening on the screen.

The Holiday Calendar

Ok, so maybe I am seeing a theme here with main characters out of love and in dead end jobs or just a little down on their luck. But this magical advent calendar movie has a little something something that the others don’t. And it isn’t just my love for Gramps Sutton.

Holiday In The Wild

Lets ignore the part where Kate drinks champagne straight out of the bottle, (it doesn’t work that way and I know from experience) this movie gave me all the feels. I was ready to pack my bags, go somewhere remote, and save some shit. Nothing like the other Christmas movies, besides the falling in love with the obnoxious hottie, Holiday in the Wild will not disappoint.

Accidental Love Christmas Movies

Lovehard

Catfished for Christmas? Yes, please. I was so ready to lump this in with the suckier Christmas movies but once the love triangle got introduced I was hooked. A little “How to lose a guy in 10 days” and a bit of Nev and Max mixed in with an accidental engagement and a very annoying ‘perfect’ sibling makes this one of my favorite Christmas movies of the year.

Christmas Wedding Planner

As soon as the last blueberry scone was introduced I knew this movie was going to be good. Ok, maybe I mean corny and doofy, but still I knew it was going to make this list. Obviously home dude is getting the scone for the same person as ol’ girl. Now throw in a private investigator/ ex flame and you know this shit is gonna be dramatic in the best way.

Holidate

A platonic plus one agreement never ever stays platonic. Now that we got that out of the way Aunt Susan in the bunny costume at a family event, tequila shots on Cinqo de Mayo, and the all around messiness of the agreement make the movie perfect to pair with a glass of Cab. Of course there is a fight and then mr perfectpants just happens to be at the mall so they can have a perfect make up moment. It’s everything you need to watch to feel all kinds of ways.
